‘Collaborative Law’ is a relatively new process which King Street Solicitors in Wakefield are able to offer to family clients.
This process is designed to reduce conflict between separating couples and to provide for more workable and permanent solutions for families. Each party instructs their own Family Solicitor whom is also a trained Collaborative Specialist.
However, instead of the case being conducted through Solicitors’ correspondence, the parties meet face to face with their Solicitors for discussions to take place in a series of ‘four-way’ meetings. The Solicitors communicate between the meetings in order to plan on behalf of the parties. |

Each party can secure legal advice from their own Solicitor during the process both at and between meetings. The parties themselves set the pace, timetables and agendas for the meetings. There is an absolute prohibition on Court proceedings being commenced whilst the process is ongoing, meaning that there must be a firm commitment made by both parties and their Solicitors to reach an appropriate settlement within the process.
Nicola Coppinger is a trained Collaborative Lawyer/Solicitor at King Street Solicitors, Wakefield. If you wish to find out more including whether the process may be suitable for your case, then please contact her on 01924 332 395 or njc@kingstreetsolicitors.co.uk. |
